So, one of Gavin's big Santa gifts was a Lightsaber. He likes the animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars movie and watches the new Cartoon Network show (http://www.cartoonnetwork.com/clonewars/). He of course has not seen even one of the six movies - new or original. I am currently working on the original films as far as getting him interested. We'll see.
He was very excited to tell Santa that he wanted a Lightsaber - "One that lights up and makes noise" and also specified, "I'll need batteries" since the ones in the store generally did not have batteries. I think that they may have but even demo batteries die. He was thrilled to receive it - didn't even notice that he got the blue one (Obi Wan Kenobi) vs. the green one (Skywalker). It was very cool to see him find it and love it from go!!
In addition, Dylan quickly found it and enjoyed the new toy in his own 10 month old way - chewing. He must have played with it a half dozen times on Christmas day. Where ever it was left to lay, Dylan would find it and sit for awhile and chew. Either way, both boys seem to be influenced by the latest Star Wars attempt. Not sure that it can impact this generation of young Jedi as it did the earlier ones.
