Siblings

So, the kids are spending more and more time together as of late. So much so that they sit together often, even when they aren't doing the same things. I can't believe that they squeezed their bums onto two chairs.

Video games have become a hotter item in the Vitale house. From Christmas through Gavin's birthday, VSmile handheld games were hot, along with Dylan's Tag Junior and the big kids with their Tag Readers too. I tried to get them to look at me - forget it.

Popcorn is also a hot treat in the house. The kids watch movies some nights after an early bath or on a weekend. Dylan is spending some more time as a part of this posse and especially when there is popcorn. I found these really cute plastic popcorn containers that are washable. They love them and so do I.

New teeth AND old teeth...

The day we identified Gavin's wiggly baby teeth (1/23/10), I left for Florida for a few days paranoid that I would miss this milestone. The first teeth falling out. First tooth fairy? Maybe not that part but now 5 weeks later...it is getting down right silly. Gavin is eating at the side of mouth to avoid touching his wiggly baby teeth. Tooth brushing is a sensitive subject - protests. He refuses to tug on them or wiggle them. Nora was trying to talk him into "yanking" them the other night. Thanks to America's Funniest Home Videos, she offered to pull on the string if he tied them up. He told her "No Way!"


The dentist looked at his teeth and indicated that he looked good. Healthy teeth and made sure to point out to ensure brushing for his new molars. Gavin's mouth is small (start saving for orthodontics I suppose) but they indicated that he is definitely due for a growth spurt based on his mouth and face. I guess I have to agree. He has no room in there for teeth, no spaces between the baby teeth , etc. Bottom line is that he is OK, even with permanent teeth behind baby teeth, since the baby teeth are loose. "One good bite in an apple will take care of it." or "His baby teeth will get to a point where they are only hanging on by the plaque!" So, my scaredy-cat kid will eventually lose his first teeth but who knows when. Silly Billy!

Vitale Boys' Birthday Party

Happy Birthday to the Vitale boys (Gavin (6), Dylan (2) and Grandpa (61) - oh and Daddy (37) at the end of January. However, no cupcake or candles for you!! Grandma, Grandpa, Gammie and Papa came to town for a visit to celebrate all of these birthdays. Fun was had by all. Dylan even sang himself "Happy Birthday"; although he giggles after he gets that part out and only said Gavin's name.

Boys had a good time opening their take. Grandma and Grandpa got Gavin a new bike for his nice long legs. G.I. Joe tank and G.I Joe were also a big hit. Dylan has G.I. Joe riding motorcycles. Gavin also received one of the Cobra Force guys and Nora had him marrying a Tinkerbell fairy or maybe one of her Polly Pockets. Gavin was not amused by any of it!

Dylan received lots of new bikes to play with but the "guy" and the dirt bike is a fan favorite. He loves him. He has carried him around for a week. [Note, 3/15, "guy" is now a amputee - he has lost both of his legs due to stunt tricks gone wrong performed by a two-year old. He has another dirt bike that he purchased with birthday cash but it just isn't the same. I'm performing surgery later this week. He will most likely lose range of motion but I think he will at least appear to have legs.]

I was inspired in October for Nora's birthday to create a cake for Dylan. Gavin had a friends-party the weekend before so, this was little man's cake. Now, bikes are his favorite. Dirt bikes, motorcycles, etc. I was not up for that challenge - sorry Dilly. I had to substitute the next best thing. Fire trucks. So, I found this cake design on-line and I don't think I did too bad!! Dylan loved it and that is really all that matters to me.

At least he is wearing a "helmet". Bucket head! Dylan insists on riding this way in the house. He does wear a regular bike helmet outside in the driveway.

Happy 2nd Birthday Dylan!!

Happiest birthday, big boy!! Two already...so fast...so happy! Especially with ice cream cake and chocolate! Does it get better than this?

TEETH :-D

Holy Moly, so in addition to wiggly teeth for Gavin, his permanent teeth are coming in behind the baby teeth. So, I noticed this while brushing teeth the other night. We had a wellness visit coming up as well as a dentist appointment pending. So, Dr. Somers, Gavin's pediatrician also noticed that his 6 year molars are coming through. No wonder Gavin wasn't eating much in the past few weeks. I hate being surprised by the pediatrician. Either way - lots of new teeth.

Happy Birthday Handsome!!

We celebrated Gavin's birthday at home on his birthday, a fine Wednesday! We had a wonderful pizza dinner followed by M&M Brownies. A fan favorite. Gavin opened some presents and we had a really nice evening. Gavin's birthday cake hat (crown?) was from school. He took brownies to school to share - Mommy mini-brownies. He also set a new record for pencils. His teacher sent him out to hand out brownies that were left over to other teachers and in return, you collect a pencil. He came back with 12 pencils. New class record. He also travelled the furthest, to a third grade teacher, second floor, opposite end of building, never been there before. What a kid.

A week or so after his birthday, we hosted an indoor miniature golf friends bday party for Gavin. Very cool place - Monster Mini-Golf - Halloween, spooky theme - glow in the dark deal. Way cool! We lost our mind and invited all of kindergarten class plus other good friends.

[Of course the party was in the middle of my INSANE work schedule for emergency work. I was near the edge. So grateful for Papa visiting for the weekend to help Pete while I worked. Thank you Papa.]

The party was a blast. The Bakugan cupcake/cake was a big hit too. The kids enjoyed the music and the black light.

The party room was upstairs and there was a lookout through the fence. There was much dancing and running. Nora was making quite a move here...and go Dilly!
